To allow for easier
installation into existing networks, CensorNet Pro (CN Pro) has been designed
to work as a “sideways proxy”, with the upstream firewall/router functions
provided by existing customer installations.
CensorNet Ltd recommends
that the firewall be configured to only accept web enquiries from CN Pro. This
will ensure all internal users enjoy the full online security available from CN
Pro.
In order for your
workstation to work correctly with CN Pro, updates are required to network and
browser configurations.

Note CN
Pro’s IP address should not be
entered as the gateway. Instead, this should be the address of the upstream
firewall/router through which all packets have to pass (in this case, IP
address 217.146.111.17 in Figure 2.1). |
DHCP may be used to
give the workstations an IP address, if preferred.

Figure 2.2 shows a
typical proxy configuration for an Internet Explorer (IE6) browser.
Figure 2.3 shows the
same information for a Firefox browser.
Both the name and
the IP address of the CN Pro server, and DNS name if it exists, must be in the Do not use proxy for… settings (IP
address 217.146.111.18 and name mega.chorlte.com
in the above figures). Ensure the Use
proxy server for all protocols tick box is ticked.
CN Pro is now
configured and can be used to provide safe and efficient online access to the web.
