This section will allow you to configure whether you want to receive alerts regarding the system’s health. The options are those shown in Figure 4.23.

Figure 4.23 –
System Alert Configuration
For certain services there are thresholds
that need to be set. These are as
follows:
Load: The
value you enter here will cause an alert to be set to you if the system load
exceeds (is greater than) this value.
The system is accurate enough that you may receive an alert even if, by
the time you check the System Overview page, the load has lessened again. The occasional alert can be ignored, but if
you receive multiple alerts in a short space of time you should consult
Technical Support for advice.
Free
RAM: This sets the threshold which if breached
will cause an alert to be sent. The
alerts will be generated if the amount of available RAM falls below (is less
than) this threshold. If you start
receiving these alerts and can increase the RAM on your machine then consider
doing so. If you need advice please
consult Technical Support.
Free
Disk: Alerts will be sent if the amount of
available disk space falls below this threshold. If you start receiving these alerts then
consider deleting old archives using the Manage Archives report. If deleting old archives does not stop the
alerts then consult Technical Support.
As well as these options, you can also elect
to receive alerts when various system services fail. These are as follows.
CensorNet
Proxy Server: If you receive alerts after enabling this it
means the filtering proxy has failed.
You can attempt to restart it from the System Overview page. If you are unable to restart it then consult
Technical Support.
Category
Server (CSRV): If you receive alerts after enabling this,
it means your category server has failed.
If you are unable to restart it then contact Technical Support.
Web
Cache Service: If you receive alerts after enabling this
your web cache has failed and your users will not be able to browse. If attempts to restart the service from the
System Overview Page fail then contact Technical Support.
License
Server: If your license server fails you will
receive an alert if this is enabled. A
failed license server will eventually lead to a failed proxy. Check that your license is still valid but if
you cannot restart this service contact Technical Support.
Database
Server: If the database server fails then almost nothing
will work. Try and restart it from the
front panel but contact Technical Support if you are unable to do so.
