Upload Filter

The Upload Filter page provides the ability to stop the upload of files via web mail and other sites that use HTTP.  Figure 6.13 shows the initial configuration.

Initially, with all categories set to Ignore, no blocks would be set on the upload of any files via the web.  Figure 6.14 shows Office Documents and PDF files set to block.

Once all the selections regarding filtering have been made, click the Update Policy button. The policy will be created and a message confirming this will be displayed. Click on the Continue button to move onto the Policy Management page.

Note

The Upload Filter cannot block uploads to a site that uses HTTPS.  This is because the connection is encrypted and CN Pro cannot tell what file type is being uploaded. This should not be an issue as HTTPS sites are blocked by default and access to them is configurable on CN Pro.

Note

When a user tries to upload a file that is blocked, it may appear that CN Pro has frozen. This may occur if the web site they are visiting is using AJAX and CN Pro has no way of seeing the return code from the site.
